Goal Tending

Happy Monday, everyone.

And because it's Monday, I'm talking about goals. Last week, I posted about my year-long goals. (I haven't accomplished any of those yet—especially not that healthy eating one.). At the time, I didn't mention my weekly goals, but I did set some. I always set some. Almost always. So it might seem a bit anti-climatic when I tell you that I, in fact, achieved all these goals.

And there was much rejoicing.

So, in the hopes of continuing my success streak, here are this week's goals...

1. Complete Chapters 22 and 23 in Second Nature.

A little while back I took the three scenes I had planned for Chapter 22 and bumped them all to Chapter 23, which left me with a big black hole in between Chapters 21 and 23. Last week, I developed a plan to replace the black hole with actual story. This week I shall put my plan into action and cross my fingers that it'll work because in this instance, I have no plan B.

2. Watch Sherlock series 1 and 2 before the series 3 premiere on Sunday (and the AFC Championship game, of course).

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. Okay, so maybe I don't have to do it. But I'm going to. Because Sherlock is awesome.

3. Complete three 30 minute work outs.

I have nothing to add to this. I just need to get back into the habit of working out on a regular basis and hope making this goal will help me do it.

So that's going to do it for me today. What's on your agenda this week?

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Yeah, I went easy on the other goals because that Sherlock goal is uber important. Wait—I meant the writing goal. The writing goal is uber important. Yeah.

  2. I think you are so awesome for setting goals and going after them. I need to exercise, but getting back into a routine is super hard. But I know you can do it. You go girl!

    1. I hope this is the week that helps me get back on track. Exercise-wise, anyway.

  3. You're going to love the third series of Sherlock! I need to rewatch the first two just for the sheer pleasure x

    1. I think so too. It was very difficult being on Twitter last night...there were just so many people losing it over the series three finale. I can't wait to find out why.

  4. This week is all about me making it through the week. That's about all I can hope for right now.

    1. Well, that's certainly a worthy goal that I've made on more than one occasion. So far I've been successful.

  5. You definitely can't miss that game!
Sticking to my five hundred words a day goal.
And bonus points for the Monty Python clip.

    1. Oh, there is no way I'll be missing that game. I may have to take it in while sedated in my kitchen, but I won't be missing that game.

  6. Well done on completing last week's goals, and good luck in the coming week. I'm still working on my monthly goals - so far, so good.

    1. I didn't set any monthly goals this month. I'm sure I'll be back at it next month though. Best of luck to you, too!

  7. I think weekly goals are a great idea! I'm planning on getting at least one chapter rewrite done and start eating healthier.

    1. Yeah, I like setting yearly, monthly and weekly goals. Sometimes I even set daily goals, but I try not to blog about them too much. I figure once a week is all right.

And I definitely need to start eating healthier. If only I didn't like junk food so much.

  8. Weekly goals help you work toward the bigger goals. I hope you can fill that black hole.

    1. I hope so, too, because I seriously don't have a plan B. Plan B involves darkness and crickets. So many crickets.

  9. Good for you!!! Sherlock is so much fun and hitting any writing goal is awesome. Don't know if you like running but I recently downloaded Zombies Run! and it's made my 2-4 mile runs way more fun and helped me run faster (in short bursts).

    1. I like running. My shin splints, however, have other ideas. I mostly have to stick to walking and yoga.

  10. Let me know about Sherlock! Maybe I'll get to watch it one day too. :)

    Good luck w/ the goals!

    1. I am certain Sherlock will be just as brilliant, if not more so, than the first two series. I just wish I could binge watch the entire series in one night.

  11. I'm behind on Sherlock too! I believe in you, M.J. These goals are perfectly attainable.

    1. I'm only behind on Sherlock because they haven't aired series three in the States yet. I'm just re-watching all the episodes because they're brilliant.

And yeah...I didn't really set terribly hard goals for this week. Probably because I know what a bear chapter 22 will turn out to be.

  12. Congrats on meeting last week's goals, and best of luck on this week's. I suspect you'll have no problems with the second half of #2...

My plan for the week is to stop procrastinating on my novel, and stop procrastinating on my freelance work. (Although I suppose I could simplify both of those to: Start procrastinating on my procrastination.)

  14. Yay!

Good for you :). Keep at those weekly goals and before long they'll turn into completed yearly goals. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

    1. I keep telling myself that, too. It hasn't been the case thus far, but maybe the math will finally work out this year.

  15. So, Sherlock series 3 hasn't started yet. My mother was frantic the other day trying to get her DVR to record it, but it didn't record. Then I found that she had set it for next Sunday. So, good to know she won't miss it. (I still need to start from series 1 which I will get to once I get caught up on my other TV shows.)

    1. Yep, it starts on Sunday. After the Patriots play for a chance to get into the Superbowl. I really hope they win that game—I don't want to be grumpy when Sherlock starts.

  19. You know, I do much better with short term goals than long. Congrats on hitting last week's--good luck with this week's.

  20. I'm heartened by your ongoing, realistic approach to your goals. Well done. Sherlock season three, a must watch.

My goal this week is to try, yet again, to make my human a better writer!

  21. Great goals, I really like the Sherlock one 8-D I can't wait for series three. I've been dodging so many spoilers online it will be nice to finally see it and not have to duck every time I see Sherlock while on Facebook.

  22. Great goals! A little bit of fun mixed with hard work makes the outcome so much more enjoyable.

  23. yaayy. (There's a little more rejoicing, just for you.)

Good luck tackling the next chapters. But the big hardship this week is to watch all the Cumberbatch. (I heard recently that his fans are called Cumberbitches. I don't think I'd be down with that.)

  24. I'm incredibly late to this post, but I hope you've had lots of luck accomplishing your goals this week!

  25. so, did you get some stuff done? i need to get back to weekly goals. but i am pretty much winging it this year so far... one temptation at a time, free brownie? ok, i haven't had one in a while - worth it! free cupcake, well, i had an orange today, sure. buy donuts? resisted! good for me =) ha ha ha

i will have to check out sherlock... but i am wary, i love the movies and am afraid i will be disappointed in the series
