Vacation

As some of you may recall, I was on vacation at the beginning of the month. The Man was desperate to go somewhere warm for a while, so we headed down to Florida for a week of above freezing temperatures and a visit to Harry Potter World. (The Man, by the way, is not a Harry Potter fan. He's just a nice guy. But don't tell him I told you that.)

So I thought I'd share some of the pictures from the trip with you today.

The view from our hotel room

A crab (obviously) hanging out with us one day

Look, ma! No glare!
(Yeah, I know this picture was already used this month)

As opposed to the unfrozen kind of ice?

Hogwarts Castle, home of the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride

Signs found all over Hogwarts warning people like me to stay the hell
away from this ride. Which, naturally, I did not do.

What I had (at the Three Broomsticks) after I recovered from
my experience on the Forbidden Journey ride.
Relax, it's butterbeer.

The roller coaster I declined to go on.

And the sun sets on my vacation and this slide show...

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. Awesome pictures! and I would have gone for the hardcore ale after the ride. I really love that little crab, those black eyes are rather cute.

    1. I figured I shouldn't have hardcore ale (which makes me dizzy) after being on a ride that makes me dizzy.

  2. So what you're saying is that you had crabs.

  3. How fun to see Hogwart's Castle. I would've also ONLY looked at that rollercoaster from afar, MJ. Glad you had a great trip.

I can see why you declined that roller-coaster. It looks insane!

    1. It is insane. I think I might have gone on it during my last trip there, but I honestly can't remember.

    1. There were, which was funny because on our last beach vacation, there weren't any shells on the beach anywhere.

  7. That Forbidden Journey ride freaks me out, but I love all the stuff leading up to it while you're on the line.

Hey, did you get a wand? :)

    1. I loved waiting in that line. So much cool stuff to see in the castle.

And yeah, I did get a wand. And a purple pygmy puff. It's staring at me right now.

  8. While I've been to Disney a bunch, we've never made it up to Universal...yet. We plan to rectify that soon, since we live just an hour away.

Looks like you had a blast as well as good weather :)

  9. Fantastic pics M.J.

I am currently in Florida now... OFF to Orlando on Sunday... YAY! Can't wait. I've done WW about three times now and I LOVE it, but this time I am going to do the DISNEY THING... The new Fantasy land has opened and I am totally intrigued to see what they have come up with.

Thanks for sharing your vacation with us.

  10. Gorgeous photos! I really want to go to Harry Potter World. I just hope my boy grows to be a fan. All my husband would like to do is drink Fire Whiskey.

    1. A friend of mine who is not a HP fan is taking her son the HP fan there at the end of the year. She doesn't know what she's going to do the whole time, but I told her she'd probably just do what The Man did...smile and nod politely.

Your husband could hang out in the Hogs Head tavern. It's right next to the Three Broomsticks.

  11. Beautiful photos - I've never seen a beach with so many shells (or such cute crabs).

Also, very cool that the HP place has both a sense of humor and style about even their warning signs.

And we both know The Man was down there to hack some wizard portals.

  12. Islands of Adventure!! I love riding the Hulk. Last time we were there I rode it seven times in a row, and the final run, I almost fell asleep waiting for the launch. (I was really tired.) Total coaster junkie.

What does butter beer taste like? Root beer? Cream soda? Tell me!!!
